Snowflakes Loose Parts Collage

What is Loose Parts Play?
Loose Parts Play provides children with a variety of open-ended materials that can be used in many ways. There is no set intent or single method of use. They can be moved, designed, lined-up, combined, or stacked however the child sees fit. This allows for a lot of problem-solving, creative thinking, resourcefulness and flexibility.
You will need:
-
Bamboo skewers pointy ends removed
-
Round, flat glass stones
-
Beads- pearl-like, blue, white and clear
-
Blue/grey/white construction paper
-
(Any other craft items that will suit the purpose)
-
Images of snowflakes
What to do:
Step 1
Look at the story of Betty the Yeti, and draw the children’s attention to the Snowflakes on the pages. Discuss the shapes.
Step 2
Look at images of snowflakes and demonstrate how to use different loose parts to create a representation of these.
Step 3
Encourage the children to create their own representations of snowflakes.
